The Charlotte Barbarians suffered a tough home-loss last Saturday (March 2) against the Charlotte Originals 27-22. The loss knocks the Barbarians into third place in the North Carolina DIII Men's Club Matrix, a spot they will hold for the remainder of the season. The competition between the cross-town rivals was a physical and even match up. The Barbarians pack did a great job in the scrums, in the lineouts and around the rucks. They also did a great job of supporting the backs in the open field. The back line did a great job creating space, but in the end, the Originals did a better job capitalizing on field position. The Barbarians will now enjoy a much-needed two-week break from the pitch to refuel after a grueling 4 week Matrix Schedule. |

The Charlotte Barbarians suffered a 35-7 loss to the Asheville Hellbenders at home this past Saturday. It was an overall sloppy day for the Barbarians as they fought off the freezing rain, a muddy pitch and battled for ball control. The loss doesn't help the team's chances of winning the division, but as of now, they are still in the hunt. The Barbarians will hit the road this weekend to play Camp Lejune on February 23 at (TBD). Kick off is at 12:00). Practice attendance is very important at this time, and the team needs everyone to show their commitment as they hope to finish out the season on top. |

The Charlotte Barbarians walked a way with a big win last Saturday against top seeded Triad Rugby, 29-27. After a slow start in the first 15 minutes, the Barbarians were able to kick it into gear and rely on their speed in the back line and relentless support from the pack. After leading 29-17 late in the game, Triad began their comeback only to miss their final conversion kick on the final play to allow the Barbos to escape from Greensboro with the win.
Things don't get easier for the Barbarians going forward. The team will host Asheville this Saturday at British School of America, kick off at 12:30. The win over Triad puts the Barbarians in control over their own dynasty, but getting wins against Asheville and the Charlotte Originals are defiantly needed. Come out and support your Barbos as they try to claim the conference for the Queen City. |

The Charlotte Barbarians will be hosting its seasonal charity match this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Triad. The team will be asking for monetary donations before, during and after the game. All proceeds will go to A Child's Place, a Charlotte based organization that works to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education. There were over 4,992 homeless children that were enrolled in Mecklenburg County School in 2012. Together we can help change this. Any and all donations are accepted and greatly appreciated.
