Barbos and A Child's Place

The Charlotte Barbarians are pleased to announce their new partnership with the non-profit organization A Child's Place. The new partnership gives the Barbarians a real chance to give back to their community and help underprivileged kids in the Charlotte area.

The Barbarians will be hosting charity matches, youth camps and tournaments to raise funds for the organization.Volunteer opportunities will also be announced shortly, where the Barbarians will get a hands-on opportunity to make an impact in the lives of these children.

"We are always pleased to have a new organization to help us," said Aimee Brunton, partnership manager at A Child's Place. "We are a small organization so we can use all of the help we can get. We are excited about this."

Funds raised go to help, but are not limited to, providing school uniforms, lunches, tutoring, mentoring, holiday gifts and extracurricular activates.

About A Child’s Place
Homelessness for children isn’t just about where they lay their heads at night; it’s about where their heads are during the day at school, too. Founded in 1989, A Child’s Place of Charlotte is working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education, reaching nearly 1,600 children during the 2009-10 school year. Unfortunately, some 4,453 homeless students are enrolled in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. To learn more about A Child’s Place, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, or to make a donation, call 704-343-3790 or visit www.achildsplace.org.

Barbo Training and Practice‏ Spring 2012

Barbos
Time to start back up for the Spring season. January 7th, next Saturday, at noon we will be having a training session at Ultimate Crossfit in South End. (I will send out the address shortly) Nick Naum set this up for us and it will be a great way to jump start our conditioning as well as get to know some of our new teammates. The training will last about an hour and a half, and afterwards we will run some drills in the parking lot so make sure you wear running shoes. Please let me know if you plan on being there so we know how many to expect.
Our first practice will be the next Wednesday, 6:30, at Ray's Splash Planet/Irwin Elementary. We have a little over a month before our first match so everyone needs to be there ready to work. Our schedule will be out just as soon as it is finalized.
Thanks,
Phill
